Diplomatic efforts for ceasefire gather pace as barrages of rockets from Gaza continue

Israel notified Egyptian mediators on Thursday that it was prepared to halt its military operation against the Gaza-based terrorists of Hamas, Arab sources told i24NEWS.

Earlier in the day, the Qatari Al-Jazeera network reported that Israel signaled it was ready for a ceasefire.

Diplomatic efforts gathered pace for a ceasefire on the 11th day of deadly violence between Israel and the Islamist terrorists of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier vowed to push on until the military campaign reaches its objective, "to restore quiet and security" for Israelis.
